Organix Snacks for Babies and Toddlers!

We were recently sent a big box of goodies from Organix to review! Included inside were a number of baby and toddler snacks which are all vegetarian and some even suitable for vegans and children with cows’ milk protein allergies (CMPA).

Part of the bundle of goodies we were sent were these new pea-based snacks:

The pea puffs on the left are suitable for vegans and CMPA, and the other two packets are suitable for veggies and a huge win with Olivia! Her favourites are the cheese and onion lentil hoops, but whenever she eats them I have to sit her away from me because the cheese and onion smell is quite strong!
These packets are great for taking out and about with you and even for packed lunches, and are a fab alternative to just having unhealthy crisps in the kids’ lunch bags. Organix have a no junk promise, ensuring that these are pretty much as good for your children as you can get. I love that these have hidden veggies in them but are marketed as NORMAL things your child would eat, specifically aimed at kids and with fun, colourful designs on the packets to make them more appealing… In fact, these ones Olivia calls her “sweeties”:

The fact that she thinks they are sweeties is adorable and great from a mum perspective, because I can bribe her reward her good behaviour with “sweeties” that are actually not full of rubbish! No mum-guilt here!

Here’s what Amy and Oliver thought!

Oliver tucked straight into his pea puffs, infact he snatched the bag as soon as he saw them and ga
ve me a massive grin, I was very intrigued to see his reaction as he has a tendency to be picky sometimes, but as you can tell by the picture, he was tucking straight in and at some points I had to ask him to stop ramming as many as possible in his mouth.

They we’re great to have in my handbag or his nappy bag to take out and about and since trying them I have bought more as they’re good value for money and it’s reassuring to know what he is eating is healthy and won’t give him a massive sugar high.

I could tell he enjoyed it as Oliver does this super cute thing where when he is enjoying food shouts “Mmmmmm” and makes a cute attempt at saying “delicious!”

These biscuits were also a big hit with both of them, and definitely a much better alternative to normal sugary biscuits! Oliver and Olivia enjoyed sharing them and kept coming back for me!

All in all, these are fab little snacks for babies and toddlers of all different ages! Oliver is almost 2, and Olivia is 6 months older than him.

The no junk promise makes these the perfect selection for picky children who want a treat, without any mum guilt!

What ingredients to avoid in Baby Formulas

Every parent wants to give the very best available to their child, and this usually starts with the big decision of which formula you should feed your baby. We all know that breast milk is the absolute best for newborns until 6 months old, but sometimes, due to many different reasons we cannot feed our baby fully on breast milk and need to add or substitute with Baby Formula.

In fact, most of the Mummykind mummies have experienced problems with breastfeeding, and we had to use formula despite our intentions to breastfeed!

Today Mummykind has a special contribution from Ylva Williams, co-owner of the Organic Baby Food Shop and mother of two, will share her experience.

Over to you, Ylva!

“When the first of our two daughters were born, due to low breast milk supply, we started to look infant formula to add to her diet! We had already read a lot on this topic and were honestly worried, to say the least, about the ingredients and production of formulas in the USA. During our investigations, we kept finding articles based on research that infant formula produced in Europe was of much better quality than the US-based infant formula, which includes ingredients that seemed almost poisonous to children. We strongly believe in only feeding our babies organic foods, so we were very surprised to see that even the so-called “organic” baby formulas produced and sold in the US contained very harmful ingredients such as: Sucrose (pure sugar), Genetically modified Soy, Synthetic Nutrients (which can contain very harmful chemicals) Dioxin (can cause cancer), GMO (can cause cancer and organ failure), and Melamine (can cause kidney failure in babies).”

“It seemed almost impossible to get an even organic formula that would not include at least one of the above-mentioned ingredients, which are practically poison for babies, within the USA. At this point we were desperate. Thankfully, we had a close family friend who lives in Germany come to the rescue. He was feeding his children Lebenswert and urged us to try it. When we researched Lebenswert, by a company called Holle, not only did their formula not include any of the ingredients we were not willing to feed our babies but also stood for Demeter Standards and environmental sustainability. Demeter standards exceed anything we know about organic farming. We were thrilled! We wanted to feed Lebenswert to our babies, but ran into another problem: It was not sold in the US. After a long online search, we ran into a few suppliers online, but who only sold formulas close to the expiration date, highly overpriced and provided poor service. However, this formula was so great and healthy that we had no other option. This was when we decided to go to Germany ourselves and meet with the Lebenswert manufacturer (Holle) in person to build up a great solution to share with families across the USA!”

Today, the Organic Baby Food Shop imports directly from Germany to our offices in Austin, Texas , Los Angeles, California, New Jersey / New York and personally check each shipment before it departs Germany, as well as when it arrives in Texas, California, and New Jersey, to ensure the best quality and freshness for your baby.

While nowadays it seems to be nearly impossible to completely avoid exposure to chemicals and toxins, we are what we eat! Limiting dangerous ingredients especially in the most important stage of your baby’s life is essential to ensure healthy growth and a happy healthy future life, as well as giving you peace of mind as a parent!

ENDED: Appy Kids review and GIVEAWAY!!!

Hello all!

As you can tell from the title of this post, mummykind is hosting its first GIVEAWAY COMPETITION! Scroll down for details of how to enter…

Please, do try to contain your excitement!!!

These are the products:

Organic, fruit juice cartons, adorned with cute characters of Roald Dahl children’s books on the boxes as a new addition. They also come in Dora, Ninja Turtles, Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol characters!

Even though my little one is too little yet to know and love Roald Dahl, in time she will do, and it is so refreshing to have products like these marketed at children with literary characters on the front! I’m all for encouraging kids to take an interest in reading, and if these end up being her favourite characters it’s great that these organic drinks are available with them on the box! The drinks contain absolutely no GMOs, gluten, added sugars or preservatives, making them a great and tasty choice for kids’ drinks.

We’ve had three flavours to try – apple, mixed berries, and orange. I won’t lie, I have had little sips when I’ve been giving them to the munchkin, and they taste AMAZING! No wonder she drains the carton in no time at all! They’ve been a huge hit. Her favourite was the mixed berries (but out of the sips I had, I liked the apple the most). They’ve not only been a hit with the little one, but with the big one (8 years old) too! They’re the perfect little fridge-filling drink for kids of all ages, especially with such a range of characters!

They’ve also been incredibly handy little cartons to take out and about with us! They make meal times easier too, and funnily enough we had absolutely no accidents with squeezing the box too hard!

So… Here are the products you could WIN:
